Griffith and Griffith are a long established firm of Chartered Certified Accountants and Registered Auditors based in new offices near Sutton Park in Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield.
The Company works with a wide range of businesses from all areas of industry in the following services: Accountancy, Audit, Taxation, Insolvency, Book Keeping, Management Buyouts, Share Valuation, Payroll and Business Services. Griffith and Griffith celebrated the company's centenary in the year 2003. Here is an account of the firm's long and proud history.
1903 |
We were founded initially as a Debt Collection Agency by Captain George W. Griffith. |
1907 |
The Captain qualified as a Corporate Accountant. |
1912 |
Captain Griffith with the help of his son, George H. W. Griffith, founded the firm in its present format. |
1916 |
George H. W. Griffith also qualified as a Corporate Accountant and the Father and Son began to expand the firm |
1928 |
The growing Practice transferred to Birmingham City Centre. |
1930s / 40s |
George H. W. Griffith (son of the founder) continued to run the practice. |
1949 |
The son of the above, George W. Griffith qualified as a Certified Accountant and joined the family partnership. |
1953 / 54 |
George H. W. Griffith had the honour of serving the City as Lord Mayor. |
1960 |
George W Griffith (grandson of the founder) became Managing Partner of the firm. |
1970's |
The firm diversified into dealing with Inland Revenue "Back Duty Investigations" (as they were then known) and also into the field of Company Liquidations. |
1979 |
Continuing the family tradition, the great-grandson of the founder, again named George H.W. Griffith, qualified as a Chartered Accountant. |
1982 |
George H.W. Griffith was admitted into the family partnership. |
1994 |
At the beginning of the year the partnership took over the practice of Norris Harper & Co. which was based at Erdington, Birmingham. It subsequently acquired premises at Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield, to which the new work was transferred. |
2000 |
The offices at Sutton Coldfield were demolished and re-built as the present modern building which houses the Firm today. In August work and staff from the Birmingham office were transferred into the new offices which are substantially larger than the original property. |
2003 |
The firm changed it's status to that of a Limited
Company with George H W Griffith as the Managing Director. The firm celebrated it's Centenary with a summer
buffet and dance at Aston Wood Golf Club. |

In the last few years, the firm has invested substantially in technology to equip it with the facilities to deal with all aspects of the modern accountancy world. The firm has continued to expand its operations, particularly within the Sutton Coldfield area but also much further afield with several clients resident outside the UK. We now offer specialist advice in a broad range of areas further details of which are to be found elsewhere on this website.
The current premises are far more easily accessible to clients than the congested Birmingham City Centre and ample client parking is available. |
